What is Cancer?
As a result of mutations in the genetic code called DNA in the cell nucleus, the cells in any part of the body gain the ability to reproduce continuously and as a result, the tumors formed are called cancer.
Although the formation of cancer differs from person to person, environmental factors, genetics prone to cancer from the family and the person's own genetic structure are among the most basic causes of cancer formation. Early diagnosis at this point is of vital importance. The advanced technology in cancer facilitates the early detection of cancer, thus helping the person to regain his/her health with appropriate treatment.
What is a Malignant Tumor?
The difference between a malignant tumor, that is, cancer, from a benign tumor is that the malignant tumor grows and spreads to other organs as a result.
What is Cancer Surgery?
The process of diagnosing and treating cancer by removing a part of the body is called Cancer Surgery. This method is the basis of cancer surgery.
What are the Methods Used in Cancer Surgery?
There are multiple techniques and methods in cancer surgery. Some of these are as follows:
Mohs Surgical Method
In this method, the cancerous area is removed in layers with the help of a scalpel. It is generally used for cancers removed from sensitive points of the body. After the removal of each layer, the situation is evaluated to ensure that no cancerous cells remain. This situational assessment is carried out under the microscope. Certainty is reached by observing the removed cells.
Robotic Surgery Method
In this method, which emerged with the technologies developed in the field of health, the surgeon who will perform the operation performs the operation over the three-dimensional image of the operated area. By controlling the robot remotely, the surgeon reaches the areas that he will have difficulty in reaching with the help of the robot. In this way, much more difficult operations become easier and the success rate of the surgery increases.
Laser Surgery Method
It is a method in which high laser beams are used to reduce cancer cells or to destroy them by evaporation. It makes it easier to focus on very small areas and enables the surgery to be performed. As a result of this method, also known as laser ablation, tumors are reduced or completely destroyed, and some cancer symptoms such as bleeding or obstruction are alleviated.
One of the most important advantages of using the laser is that it allows the body tissue to be cut precisely and at the same time, the bleeding is minimized by sealing the blood vessels while they are being cut.
Laparoscopic Surgery Method
In this method, where the inside of the body can be viewed without large incisions, small incisions are used. The method, in which the inside of the body is imaged with the help of a thin camera and surgical instruments are transmitted into the body, is used for the diagnosis of laparoscopic surgery, its progression and treatment by alleviating the symptoms.
