What are the Diagnosis and Treatment Processes in Breast Surgery?
Determining whether there is a mass in the breast by detecting a mass as a result of the techniques applied in breast surgery is known as the first step in breast surgery. If there is a mass in the breast afterward, a biopsy is performed to see if this mass is cancerous. After the definitive diagnosis is made by biopsy and, if necessary, other diagnostic methods, breast conserving surgery is performed in breast surgery. At this stage, the necessary treatment methods are determined according to the size of the mass, its type and the condition of the patient. With these treatment methods, it is aimed to get the patient back to health as soon as possible. In this process, early diagnosis and correct treatment method are vital for the patient. Breast conserving surgery is a treatment method that is most commonly applied to patients and aims to make patients feel better psychologically. With this method, only the cancerous cells are taken, not the entire breast.
What are the Treatment Methods Other than Breast Conserving Surgery?
In cases where breast-conserving surgery cannot be performed, mastectomy, in which the breast tissue is completely removed, and lymph node surgery, as a result of the cancerous cells spreading to the lymph nodes, are among the treatment methods applied.
